How to make the PAN card (Form 93) files
- Pick the upload at the top of the tool: photo, signature. The size, pixels and DPI from the notice are filled in for you.
- Drop in your image. For a photo, a recent one taken facing the camera against a plain wall in even light. For a signature, sign in black ink on white paper and photograph it flat; the tool trims to the ink and whitens the paper.
- Make it, check the ticks, download. Each tick is one part of the spec (KB band, pixels, DPI) measured on the finished file. The file is named for the form and the upload, so you can tell them apart when you upload.
Worth knowing for PAN card (Form 93)
- The signature is the tightest file on any form here: 10 KB at 4.5×2 cm. Sign in black on white, photograph it flat, and the tool trims to the ink and lands under 10 KB.
- Proof documents (Aadhaar, passport, voter ID and the like) go in as black-and-white PDFs at up to 300 KB a page; use the compress tool's 300 KB option for a scan.
- Aadhaar alone serves as proof of identity and address on Form 93, but not of date of birth; a passport, driving licence or voter ID covers all three.
The PDFs
The proof documents goes in as a PDF up to 300 KB: the compress-PDF tool's “Under 500 KB” setting gets a scan there with the size checked. Photos of a certificate rather than a PDF? The images-to-PDF tool makes one PDF under the same limit.
